I think I want to seek out therapy, but....

Hieu Pham, LCSW, Brea Mental Health Therapist Certified EMDR Therapist Orange County Los Angeles County

How do I book an appointment?

To book a mental health therapy appointment via telehealth therapy or in person at my office in Brea, CA, I encourage you to pick up the phone and dial my number 657-203-2472.

If I do not answer your call immediately, please leave me a message expressing interest in booking an appointment, and allow me up to 24 business hours to respond.

Who do you see?

If you are an individual who is experiencing anxiety or depression, or struggling to manage stressors due to changes  imposed on you, or you have difficulty managing reactivity to historical negative experiences, I can help you through this. You are not alone.

I meet with individuals via telehealth therapy services  as well as in office. I am located in Brea, CA.

How much will I have to pay?

My rate is $185 for a standard 50-minute mental health therapy session (including EMDR therapy).

I accept payment via Cash, Check, or Credit Card.  FSA or HSA cards are also acceptable forms of payment. Payment is due at the time of session.

Do you accept insurance?

I am a private-pay provider who is based out of Brea, CA.

If you have a PPO health plan with Out of Network benefits, I can provide you with a Superbill (i.e. treatment-specific document) that you submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

Please understand that I do not guarantee reimbursement, and that you are responsible for paying my full fee at the time of service.

What if I need to cancel our appointment?

My time is reserved for you until I am notified. I respect the time and energy that you have invested into managing your mental health. Please reschedule or cancel therapy sessions, as soon as possible via text, phone call, or email to avoid paying a sitting fee.

24 Hour Consistency Policy

Consistency in meeting with your Therapist is essential when starting off treatment and when things are going well. My goal is to offer you consistency when possible. I ask for the same from my clients to ensure consistency for all.

When cancellations or reschedules are made within 24 hours of your appointment, or you do not show for you scheduled session, you will be charged the full fee previously set for your session.

Why don't you accept insurance as a form of payment?

Having served clients living  in Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego Counties who sought mental health therapy services to manage anxiety and depression, I understand that going through insurance increases access to care. On that same note, I understand that being on various insurance panels may compromise the type of care I can provide.

Barriers that clients and I may encounter when accessing care through insurance panels:

  • Client confidentiality is compromised as my verification of your status in therapy is required for reimbursement.
  • A mental health diagnosis may be necessary to prove "medical necessity" for reimbursement purposes, and that diagnosis will stay on your medical record. In my experience, seeking support to work through life stressors or to resolve historical trauma do not necessitate a mental health diagnosis.
  • Insurance providers can stop reimbursement at any time and request payback of past payments if they deem the claim does not comply with their rules and/or paperwork.

In short: when insurance companies are involved, you and I are not the decision makers of your treatment.

Good Faith Estimate

Under the  No Surprises Act (H.R. 133) enacted on January 2, 2022 :

Clients have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.  Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

Clients have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

Clients can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
